Marina Richterová is a Czech artist who grew up in communist Russia, isolated from western artistic trends and influence. This has certainly gone some ways toward atmospherically informing her dark, folklorist visions. To me it looks somewhere between Egon Schiele and Stephen Gammell (the illustrator who everyone knows was the reason why the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books were scary.) And that's a hell of a good combo. Fortunately there is a really wonderful site where you can see all of these works plus kind of a LOT more. Thank god for artists who aren't entitled and actually allow large reproductions of their work to exist on the web. Anyway, as is obvious, Marina rules big time. Plus she probably doesn't even know how metal she is.
