Giorgio Ghisi's Allegory

(1561) often referred to as The Dream of Raphael or even the Melancholy of Michelangelo. This image has no official title and is surrounded by a fair amount of obscurity but what remains clear is that it is a richly engraved allegory of life. One of the Latin texts urges the observer to face evils boldly rather then surrendering to them.
