YOKAI!
YOKAI! (spirit, demon, etc.) Also a very long standing tradition and excuse for the Japanese to have drawn monsters throughout the ages. These images are broken down from an old school scroll by Hitoshi Akira Hyakki Yako. There is so so much more at Monster Brains. Also, to see how the Europeans tackle a similar problem, just ask St. Anthony.

Mark Twain's Mysterious Stranger
From the animated film The Adventures of Mark Twain made by Will Vinton in 1985. This film was based on Twain's writing obviously, though to what extent I'm not sure. The clip is certainly much more grim then the rest of the movie, which remains yet another in a shockingly long line of frightening children's features. But don't worry...people are of no value...
