I recently finished reading Norman Mailer's criminally under appreciated epic Ancient Evenings. I can't tell you how much this book floored me, melted me. It's overwhelming and it took him 10 years to write, spanning hundreds of years and many lifetimes. It is like a colossal poem of Egypt, Eroticism, Reincarnation, War, Power, Failure, Gods, Mysteries & MAGIC.
